latop will not turn on-leaky capacitors

i replaced the cmos battery,on my laptop, power supply is good, battery is charged up.i did not use this laptop for a least a year.
there is no light on the laptop chassis to indicate that the a/c power is on or that the battery is charging.i took the laptop apart and i found some leaking 1500uf 6.3v capacitors,on the motherboard,:confused: is this my problem?
to test a capacitor, do i put the voltmeter on ohms or dc voltage -to ck for continuity. thanx
