USB 2.0 vs 3.0

Quick question, I'm looking to get a PCI express USB card because my USB ports on my MB dont work anymore and I haven't been successful trying to fix them. My MB USB's are 2.0, would I run into any issues by connecting a USB 3.0 PCI express card, or would they be compatible?
