About 3 or 5 years ago I built a computer that has worked a long time.
This xp machine had few problems until now: When I power on, The red reset light on the front of the tower comes on steady as well as the green drive light
( it also stays on steady). The power supply, which is relatively new, seems to boot up the computer but there are no start-up screens from the board and no single "beep" or otherwise. No display from the board or the agp video card.
Could this be caused by something other than a dead board? Something fixable? A short?
I should explain a bit more about the computer:It has two hard drives)both WD) and two R/W DVD drives. It also has an AGP 1GB video card. The board is a Biostar K8m800 board running winxp.
Any ideas? Should I get a new board & OS? As far as I know Biostar has no
diagnostic software for it and I couldn't run it presently even if they did.
