Normally I am pretty good at figuring out where a problem is coming from with my computer, but I can't figure this one out. Sometimes, within the first 15 minutes or so of starting a game, my monitors will go dark, and the fans inside my computer start spinning really fast (not sure which fans they are).
The sound works for a few seconds after the monitor goes dark, but then the sound stops a few seconds afterwards.
This only happens within the first 15 minutes of starting a game, and usually only if I have just started my computer recently or brought it back from sleep mode.
My first guess (and I'm sure yours) would be that this is an overheating issue, but I have been checking out CPUID Hardware Monitor and the temperatures don't seem abnormal. The CPU and the GPU stay below 70C. On top of that, the temperatures are the same for when the problem does happen compared to when it doesn't.
Afterthought: One of the temperatures on my MB is consistently higher than the other two. It is always at 81C. However, it does not change from this value no matter what I am doing. The other two are in the 30-40C range. Is this normal?
I had a similar problem about a month ago except the computer would just randomly turn completely off rather than leave the fans spinning. I figured it was a power supply issue, so I got a new PSU and the problem went away. I purchased a Coolermaster 1000W power supply, so I'm pretty sure it is good enough for my rig.
My specs are:
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you need any more information.
TL;DR Sometimes, shortly after starting a game, monitors go dark, fans spin out of control, and sound freezes shortly after. Must power off to get it working again. Temps appear to be normal, and also consistent between when the problem happens and when it doesn't.
