Hi all,
Three years ago: built a computer (can post exact specs if needed, processor is AMD Phenom II x6 1090t). I used the stock fan (not advisable sure, but I was cheap). Overall didn't have overheating problems.
Two years ago: overheating problems began in earnest. I set the alarm to trigger at 70, and managed to keep it under that. Still managed to game, just with little else running in background.
A few months ago: problem got very bad. I bought a replacement fan (for some reason I was cheap with it...evidently that was a mistake. Link here). Heating problems only got worse.
As of now (in 80+ degree weather) CPU is idling around 65. Chrome and a few other things push it to about 70. These readings come from SpeedFan. This is with CPU usage around 20%.
I'm planning to remount the non-stock fan pretty soon (this weekend). If this does not work, how should I proceed? I'm willing to invest in a better a better cooling unit, but I would obviously rather not if the problem is a defective temperature sensor.
