Bios Settings

Hi,

According to our local tech shop my motherboard has 'given up'. But they don't give a credible reason and suggest that I buy new kit from them. At the moment, the machine starts to boot up from bios and a few seconds later it shuts down. I'm not convinced that the board is 'dead'. I am thinking that it could be a piece of hardware, or else the bios settings are not correct. Anyway, that's the first part.

I have managed to find an identical replacement.. it's a ASrock AM2NF3-VSTA... (old board for an old man.. I'm still using XP on this particular setup for video rendering)..My concern here is the bios setting in order to make the cpu compatible with the board.. Shall I just go ahead and assemble everything in the hope that the bios settings will be correct ?

Two simple questions for your experts, but please appreciate that I am on the very thin edge of pc knowledge and shall not proceed without your comments.

Thanks,

Pantyvest.
