Shouldn't place subwoofer near computer?

I just heard something like one shouldn't place the subwoofer beside the pc or it will destory the cpu and harddisk and must not place soundboxes beside the monitor...
are these true or just myths?
My monitor is a LCD and the subwoofer stays 2 inches away from my cpu cabinet.
