Right, so, I've done a ton of troubleshooting to figure out why my computer randomly restarts. I still can't seem to figure out the problem.
Specs:
GPU: GeForce GTX 770
CPU: Intel i7 960 3.20GHz
RAM: 12 GB
PSU: 800W
+3.3v, +5v, +12V1, +12V2, -12V, -5v, +5VSB
Motherboard: MSI MS-7522 VER: 3.1
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP 1
Okay, so, this only started happening about a week or two ago. I would start up Final Fantasy 14 and right before it started to display anything, it would shut off. No bluescreen, no nothing. Just bam, off. It automatically restarted, despite me having set the computer not to do that in the Startup and Recovery menu.
So, I began to test things. RAM is fine, ran a memtest a couple times. I did an entire 5-hour system repair for my HDD, I took out my GPU and cleaned the hell out of it and re-seated it. I then thought, perhaps it was heat? Nothing was overheating or coming close. Not the GPU or the CPU, perfectly fine - even low, even on a high load.
So, I could randomly get the game working. It feels completely random, until I started testing more. I ran a stress test through Afterburner, after updating everything driver-wise. 2 out of 5 times it would restart. Once again, without a bluescreen or anything even remotely wrong with it in the event viewer.
When I could get on the game, it would be perfectly fine. I could be on the thing for hours and hours and nothing would happen. I could tab out a random amount of times until, suddenly, there'd be one time I tab back in and it shut off and restart. No bluescreen either.
It's completely random, nothing's a constant. I also found out that if I let the computer idle, like keeping it on overnight, then try to boot up the game it shuts off 9 times out of 10. I restart the computer, I can play right after it boots off.
I used EVGA Precision X to raise the fan speed on my GPU to constantly be drawing at 70%. That, oddly enough, seemed to work for a bit. I could boot the game and run it 4 out of 5 times.
Sorry, I know that was a book and a long-winded explanation, I'm just stumped. Completely stumped. Does anyone have any sort of ideas? I also checked if there was a dump file for the computer, in case it made an error or something, there wasn't.
Also, it never has restarted if I do anything but play a game. I could be watching videos, chatting on Skype, doing anything other than playing a game and it'll be on and work perfectly fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
