My CPU temp, when I have a ton of applications open and 76 tabs up in Firefox, never exceeds 40 degrees and is usually around 29. However, when I play the game Offworld Trading Company (not a high-performance game by any means) the temperature suddenly jumps to about 78 and my computer shuts off without warning ten minutes in or so (I assume when the temp hits 80).
This is the only game that causes this and I can play anything else, even really high-performance stuff, indefinitely without a problem. What is going on?
My CPU is an AMD FX 6350 using the normal heatsink that came with it. Is there possibly an issue with the heatsink or the thermal paste?
The GPU only goes to about 65 when playing this game too.
