I currently have the opportunity to replace some parts for my PC and would like to double check the compatibility with the parts I have chosen. I have looked up what I could find from the ASUS website for my motherboard. I don't want to buy a whole new PC which is why I'm choosing to replace parts. I am trying to keep it around or under $400.
My Questions and Concerns:
With these parts is there anything that isn't compatible or is there anything worth replacing for something better? Also would I need to replace my current 500W Power Supply because of any of these Parts or any suggested parts? Would I need to buy thermal paste and what would be good?
My explanation on why I chose these parts:
As I'm not that well versatile in finding the best parts I have used websites like https://pcpartpicker.com/ to check compatibility, because I googled pc compatibility checker, and http://www.build-gaming-computers.com/ for general idea of parts. The gaming computers site I have used before back in 2012 or so for my current PC. I would have chosen to pick up another, my current RAM, Patriot Viper 3 4GB Stick but I'm afraid they don't sell those anymore since tiger direct and newegg don't stock them. The RAM was a 9-9-9-24 timing, CAS9, 240-pin DDR3 1600 SD, 1.5V which was how I came to my conclusion of the Corsair RAM. I tried to match it since my current RAM has done well for me and I figured if I found a RAM with similar specs it would do me well. The Processors I found through specs for future games I would like to play and they seem compatible with my motherboard and are relatively under or near $150. The Video Card was under the gaming computers website under the budget builds and from what pcpartpicker has listed, it has no issues with my motherboard as I couldn't find another way to check the compatibility from what I could find. I have chosen to use a non-stock cpu cooler as with my current and soon to be previous AMD FX 6100 cpu I just applied the cooler it came with. The CPU Cooler was recommended on amazon for the FX8350 and the Phenom II x4 940 and was recommended on one of the high end builds on the gaming computers website.
