motherboard DVI-D quit working

Hi,

I built this system just a few months ago and have been using it with 3 monitors. I recently moved and set it up in the new house with 4 monitors this time. I had two connected to the motherboard and two to the video card. It worked fine for a week. Last night I put the computer in "sleep". This morning when I "woke" it, one of the monitors failed to light. Troubleshooting, I confirmed it is the motherboard DVI-D that is not working. The cables are all fine, the monitor itself is fine. I even restored the system to day before yesterday so it shouldn't be a software problem. I have a cable that connects to the HDMI on the motherboard so I tried that and it works. Now I have my 4 monitors working again.

Assuming the motherboard DVI-D just crapped out randomly, or because the movers jostled the machine, I am not tearing apart my build to send it back for repair and/or to replace it. I'll live without it. My question is, did I do something wrong that made it fail? Like is there some reason I shouldn't be using 4 monitors on this build, or using 2 of them on the motherboard? I do have the option of putting one or both back on the video card but I would need to use displayport adapters of which I'm not fond.
