Bios only boots when jumper pin is in reset

I have a Gateway GM5266E desktop with an Intel D59511-404 mother board. When I start it up it shows a quick shot of the bios info then goes to the black screen with a non-blinking cursor. There are no beep codes. I can get the bios to boot if I start the computer with the jumper pin in reset position. When I exit the bios it tells me to shut down and return the pin to normal position. I do and it goes to the black screen cursor. I can change the boot order in bios to try to boot from the cd drive but it won't boot. I've changed the drive and its light blinks on start up but no boot. I've changed the ram for others that work but no success. Any ideas? Thank You.
