ASUS X5DC, Windows 7, 3 years old
Blue screen appeared after watching sky sports online
Booted up the next day and got lights, sound but no action..seen the ASUS screen, starting windows screen, NO log in screen.
Have done the following -
Removed battery and power and held power button for 60 seconds (several times)
Reseated CMOS battery/Memory/Ram/Hard drive
Attempted safe mode and system restore however no restore points, also no restore properties tab.
Run Norton antivirus, 4 threats cleared.
Connected to an external monitor - works perfectly although very slow and the fan is making alot more noise than before.
Will not allow me to reset date and time (freezes on BIOS screen) assume I need a new battery??
Tried resetting BIOS to default but no changes as far as the screen is concerned.
However dont think this will fix the screen, I have seen lights/logos/BIOS screen and safe mode so dont think its the backlight/screen itself.
Ive spent about 3 days troubleshooting and am out of options now so your advice would be much appreciated.
Although I am thinking 'Buy a new laptop' will be your response!!
Let me know any other spec details you require and where I can find it.
