Boot Device problem

Hello everyone,

I'd like to say first that this error that occurred was on the computer of my father friend. He called me and asked me if I could help him so I'm going to go tommorow and try to fix the problem.

The problem is this: "...reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media..."

He told me that he was getting this message everytime he would start his computer and even when he would try to restart it,because he isn't so familiar with computers he asked me for some help.

On first notice I think it's the order that is put for the boot devices in the BIOS,but I don't want to be wrong when I go to his home tommorow and try to fix it,I'm still studying computer software and hardware. I did some reasearch on google,youtube...and found a lot of causes for this problem and ways to fix it. My question is, is there 1 main way to fix it? Is it the order in the BIOS? Is it the HD? Maybe some drivers? Or he needs to use the XP CD he has to use the repair option?

His OS is Windows XP Service Pack 3. I still haven't goon to his home to check out the problem, but he called me and explained the best he can so I did my own reasearch, and wanted to ask you guys here before I get my hands "dirty" with this stuff.

Thank you all in advance.
