"Error allocating I/O bar for PCI device"

I have a Dell Dimension 3000 desktop, circa 2005 or 2006.

I just added a PCI serial card to it, and upon rebooting I receive the error messages:

01/00/0 Error allocating I/O bar for PCI device
01/00/1 Error allocating I/O bar for PCI device
01/00/2 Error allocating I/O bar for PCI device
01/00/0 Error allocating I/O bar for PCI device
01/00/1 Error allocating I/O bar for PCI device
01/00/2 Error allocating I/O bar for PCI device

There is no setting in the BIOS/system setup where I can "let it know" I've added a new PCI card and new ports.

Help!
