Hello all this is my first post here and I'm reaching out for your expertise.
Here's the rundown...I've recently purchased a new WD Caviar Green 1tb HDD to replace the Seagate 750gb HDD that recently crashed to the point that I am able to recover the drive. And here's the issue that I'm encountering...after installing the new HDD I've hit a brick wall with my Bios not recognizing the new HDD. I have a GA-h55-USB3 mobo that I also just flashed to the most recent Bios update.
I've also ran a control test on the HDD by dropping it into another computer so the HDD is in great shape no worries there. I also tested the SATA cable to confirm that it's not faulty and it as well is fine. I've changed the SATA ports via bios to AHCI, and even tested the PSU to confirm all the rails are sending power as they should and they are.
The new HDD is a SATA 2 and my mobo is SATA 2 enabled. The optical drive responds when I load any disk into it such as Knoppix (I was using it to see if i could somehow get the mobo to register the HDD yet to no avail).
I just don't know what to do...I feel I've tried every avenue to deduce what the problem is PSU check, HDD check, SATA cable check, and I've even tried every SATA port on the mobo to see if the case was a faulty SATA receiver but no matter which I linked into I achieved nothing.
If you have any idea on what the solution may be or what I can try next please let me know. I'm no amateur with replacing parts and this is honestly the first time I've encountered this type of issue with my rig. Thank you all in advance for taking the time to assist a fellow enthusiast.
