Hello,
I'm having a bit of a fiasco with my computer at the moment and I've given up on ASUS. So, Gigabyte is my next option in line. My X79 Sabertooth has given me countless issues so far and I can't get through to ASUS at all. So, my very helpful retailer has accepted for me to return it for a full refund. I don't, however, know for sure which to replace it with.
My options that I've discovered are:
X79S-UP5 or
X79-UD5
The UD5 was the other motherboard that I was going to go for in the first place, however, the UP5 looks very good, slightly better for me, and probably worth it. Thing is, it's a workstation chipset instead of X79. Would that work with my 3930k and multiple GPUs and would the performance meet that of a desktop oriented board?
Or, would someone have another idea for a good motherboard? Here's the criteria for that:
8 DIMMs greatly preferable
3 way crossfire capable is a must. 4xPCIe 16x for a RAID card as well would be helpful
MINIMUM of 8 SATA ports. The more the better, and more 6Gbps the better.
Capable of multiple RAIDs on 3 and 6Gbps devices
Decent manufacturer with good customer service, unlike ASUS....
Thanks for all the help. I need the answer as soon as possible since I have to return this motherboard quickly.
