Replacing Motherboard on XPS 420

I've been planning to build a new computer for a while to run Windows XP so I can run some of my older games. Before spending the $300-500 to build a new computer, I was going to try and replace some of the components on my old Dell XPS 420.

As far as I know it's mostly alright- I had let my sister borrow it and it was working fine until it was left on during a thunderstorm.

From what I can tell it's just the motherboard that's gone- several of the capacitors were blown. The power supply might need to be replaced as well, given the nature of the damage, but my main issue for now is with the motherboard.

I am trying to find a motherboard that I think would be compatible with the old case. It's sized at about 10 1/2 x 10 3/4 inches, but there's an extra 1 1/4 inch on the bottom right of the motherboard.

I haven't been able to find a site that gives me the physical dimensions in relation to the actual size of newer motherboards, so I'd like some help regarding what I need.

(Just building the new computer is an option, but I'd prefer something a little cheaper.)
