[SOLVED] Asus Motherboard and 1394 connector

Hello Folks,

I took all of the components out of my mobo for a different problem, intending to put them all back in, but wasn't sure where to put the 1394 connector . I wasn't sure where to put it but I was nearly sure it came out of one of the USB connections. To give me peace of mind I referenced the user manual but noticed that it said NEVER connect a 1394 cable into a USB connection. This put me in a pickle because that was the only time in the whole book that it was mentioned so where would you put it & the usb connectors are the only ones that it would fit into on my mobo.

"NEW CPU INSTALLED MESSAGE" Repeating...

My spec are INTEL Core 2 quad
CPU q6600 @ 2.4 Ghz
8.00 ram
64 bit Operating syst.
GTX 560 ti, EVGA

The problem reside on my CPU message installed each time rebooting, i have try so far, battery replace, jumpers, a new heat sink (H50 cooler), new thermal paste, cleaning the socket (with a lot care using a blower)
also i have try updating my bios, there i found ...that when i try to updating and succeeded after the reboot it seem like my bios never got update, how is that ? ?

NOTE:when using my PC ...for hours work perfect but i used to run my pc at 3.0 GHz over clock

i will appreciate any help and the time guys spend here helping me out

Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 and ECS 945gct-m3 motherboard issue

My motherboard is an ECS 945gct-m3 and I had Pentium D processor in it and I upgraded to the Core 2 Duo E6700. Now when I turn on the computer my cpu fan does not work and no POST or anything comes up on monitor. The fan and everything works fine with the old CPU installed, but I can't figure out why the computer wont boot or the cpu fan work with the new CPU. All the research I have done says that the Core 2 Duo will work with this motherboard but it is sure acting like it wont. I upgraded the BIOS to the latest from the ECS website before any of this. Not sure what else you need to know but any help would be great.

[SOLVED] No boot

I have 2 ACER Aspire 5534-1096 son bought both at same time 1 stopped working the other screen cracked worked sometimes changed screen to one that worked. Now neither will boot nothing but back screen no beep nothing. Removed memory turned on nothing. Plugged unplugged to try to boot nothing. Both do the same thing. What are chances of both motherboards being bad? Any idea's on what to try.

Question about motherboard replacement

I replaced the motherboard on my dv9823cl HP Pavilion Notebook and cannot get the WAN or Sound to work. Note the sound does work in bios update mode before windows is loaded. During the initial boot after the replacement a warning that an unrecognized audio board was detected. I have since updated the drivers from HP.

Does anyone know how to fix this? The Bios fields for Decive type, serial number and UUID are now blank as well.

Motherboard Failure

I have windows XP and 7 on my computer each on separate discs and each holding a lot of programs. I have an image backup of each system. Is there any way if I have a motherboard failure and am forced to replace it with a different make wherby I can reinstall XP and 7 without having to resort to installing from installation discs and reloading all programs and windows updates? I may be wrong but my backups will not contain the correct drivers for a new motherboard. How do I overcome this? Your comments would be appreciated.Thank you.

how is the intel better when the amd has much better stats? the amd is way cheaper too. so ultimately which one is better for gaming?

Samsung Series 7 (All-in-one) BIOS Hang

I'm dealing with a dp700a3B-a01us here that hangs at BIOS splash screen.

I've taken it apart, and stripped it to the mainboard/CPU/heatsink/ram, and it still hangs at BIOS splash. The computer does not respond to the key presses.

Things I've tried:
Cannot access BIOS setup.
Blank screen when any combination of RAM/CPU is removed. The two heatsink fans stay on.
Of two heatsink fans that start at boot, only one remains on when RAM/CPU are seated.
CPU heats up when heatsink is removed. Single heatsink fan speeds up to cool down CPU.
CMOS battery has been disconnected. There are no apparent flash jumpers.
I can report no blown parts, and no smells.

Nothing particular to report as to what happened to the computer before it messed up aside that it was left on for for about two months at one sitting.

No USB devices are connected.

I followed the boot order flowchart and I'm afraid the motherboard may be bad.

Please assist.

Asus doesn't start after cleaning

I have an Asus P5G31 mobo which has been working fine for many years. The fan has been running pretty high recent months so I reconed it was clogged with dust. I disassembled it and there was plenty of dust in the heatsink. I removed the package and cleaned it with a vacuum cleaner. I blow inside the chassie to get out the dust and held the vacuum cleaner over it to suck up the dust. I removed the old thermal compound, smeared new on there and mounted the heatsink.

Now the computer refuses to start. The CPU fan runs but there is no beeps and the screen is blank.

Any suggestions? What to do? May I have ruined the mobo or the CPU?

I upgraded the cpu and now pc doesn't boot up. It powers up and HD spins but loading light stays on always. I don't even get the bios.:banghead:

I just got my new PSU from OCZ through an RMA, and I have done a breadboard build. I get a red LED on the memOk area of the motherboard, however I have tried both 2gb sticks of ram in each of the 4 RAM slots (A1,A2,B1,B2). Do I need to buy a new motherboard? I am leaning towards Gigabyte z77d3h because I want a board that is reliable over feature filled.

3 TB hard disk installation on Asus m.board

Hi,

I am trying to install a 3TB hard disk as bootable and one 3 TB partition.I got an Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 Mother board.
I converted the drive to GPT and I can see 3 TB unallocated drive.When I install windows 7 64 bit,I get only 2 TB and the remaining partition is not accessible
This m.board has a UEFI Bios.The Bios sees 3 TB drive,I read some articles saying enable UEFI Bios or UEFI boot but in the Bios there is no option to enable UEFI Bios or enable UEFI boot.

Trouble booting my Sony Vaio NW series

Hello Everybody

This is my first forum post so bear with me. I could really use some help if anyone can. Here we go.. I just bought a used Sony Vaio VGN NW130j. I installed a 250gb hard drive and installed windows 7 64 bit. I turned on the computer the first time it worked great. Since then it takes several tries to boot. When I first hit the power button and the CPU light doesnt come on and nothing appears on the screen. It seems like its booting up and the power light comes on but then after about 20 or 30 seconds it shuts down and restarts 1 time. After several attempts eventually it turns on and boots just fine and Ive worked on it for upwards of 2 hrs and no problems. I can turn it off and it seems to work if I turn it on again anytime within 5 minutes or so. It has randomly rebooted on me twice while I was using it, each time on a different occasion.
I took it to a friend who works at a computer repair shop and he couldnt get it to turn on (but he didnt try hard enough) it just takes several tries. He tells me he thinks its a motherboard problem. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Heres what I have tried so far
1. Memory tested good
2. No drivers are missing that its detecting
3. Hard drive tested good

I have D915GLVG intel mother board. One day smps bursted . Changed SMPS
Now it is not detecting PATA slave drive , Master PATA can be detected. No problem with jumper setting. SATA drive are detected.

ASUS BIOS Corrupted

I have an ASUS M4N68T L VE2 motherboard . On boot , there seems to be no ASUS logo or the BIOS options and I do not know how to recover the BOS options. However my system loads the GRUB2 boot menu (however keyboard is not recognized/unresponsive)and automatically boots into the default linux OS. The OS functions without any problem.

1. I long pressed "Ctrl" after the speaker beep .( First I hear one beep and followed by 2 small beeps). I get Amercan Megatrends logo which says "No keyboard detected". This disappears very fast and grub takes over.But there is no problem in the keyboard and it functons well within the OS. Also on power up 3 led lights in keyboard flashes which means power goes from mobo to keyboard.

2. I have got the ASUS rescue CD , but it appears as if it has to be run from Windows.The ASUS CD is booting ISO linux and asks me to press a key but the press is not recognized

3. I tried moving the jumper from the MOBO slot (12 to 23 and back to 12), removed the battery , put it on after 30 secs. It does not seem to work

4. I am unable to set boot priorities as BIOS does not show up (tried various keys F2,F12,F8, Del) nothing works.As a result , the system only boots from HDD. If I remove HDD , the system reads the CD ROM drive.USB boot is not working.

5. I cant make out how to flash the BIOS if at all there is a possiblity. downloaded BIOS (ROM) file. But what should I do/ Burn it to a CD?

6. Wndows 7 install disk is not able to sort out things as to boot CD I have to disconnect HDD and upon reconnecting (case open) it s not recognzed

Is my MOBO dead ? Pl help

I have an Emachine W5243 the mobo went out. I ordered an AsRock N68C-GS FX mobo to put back in it. Everything is working great except my speakers. I checked to make sure everything was plugged in good. Please help!!

Trying to Update BIOS/Motherboard - Error

Today I installed Saints Row: The Third from Steam and tried to play it. I immediately noticed horrible lag problems + crashing. I looked up the issue and saw that Saints Row doesn't like to play on AMD computers and updating my motherboard should help.
I went here: STEAM enabled games on AMD FX platforms and tried to install the ASRock update. It gave me the error "Firmware does not have flash (AFUWINGUI) support." I'm not sure what's causing this since I'm pretty sure I have an ASRock.
I fixed the lag temporarily with a program but it doesn't help with the crashing.

Right now I don't have a spare flash drive or a blank CD I can install the BIOS from. I went here and used the Windows download: ASRock > Products > Motherboard > 990FX Extreme4 > Download but I get the error when I try to update the way it said.
