[SOLVED] Maximum temperature
Hi.
So I just overclocked my Athlon 64 x2 from 2.4GHz to 3.0GHz. So now I want to make a test to make sure that the processor is not running too hot. I have a program where I can monitor the CPU temperature but I want to find a program that can help me put more stress on the CPU so that the temperature goes up. Can anyone tell me a useful program for this?
Thank you
Martin
P.S: The program I am using to monitor the CPU temperature is ASRock's OC Tuner program, although I didn't overclock the CPU using the same program.

[SOLVED] New to me CPU
I have an i7 930 on an asus p6x58d premium motherboard, and was given a XEON L5639. Two questions, the first will my motherboard run it? I couldn't find any info from the Asus website. Second would it even be worth it to change it out if it does work. I do game some maybe 8-10 hours a week, with an occasional marathon session here and there. I use my pc mostly as a HTPC. I do some minor video work here and there also. I don't feel the need to spend any money on a new build yet, wanting to put that off 1 more year.

Processors and beyond
Hi
What is the deal of 3rd generation or 4th generation intel core processors? What does the generation have to do with it?
Can someone explain 2 m cache 3 m cache?
If you don't game, then is it really worth the money to upgrade from a dual core to an i3 processor?
Is there a MAJOR difference?
These computers are getting so fast! What is going to be next? How can we do less with our minds and just let the machines take over? When is it when we go beyond typing and beyond touch screens? When are we going to have just holograms instead of hardware?
Will we have computers just make the decisions for us based on our innate behaviors and proclivities?
It's getting ridiculous...

Regarding Motherboard/CPU
So, this is my PC
Desktops - Essentio CM1730
The only thing that's still stock in it, is the motherboard and CPU
Will any motherboard be fine in this if it fits the case (I just buy a motherboard and cpu) or do they have to be specific etc
Also, since I don't know much about motherboards, by installing a new one with a new CPU, will it cause me to lose my OS/files etc or is it fine and would be similar to upgrading a graphics card/RAM?

Motherboard pins?
So I got a new case for my emachines el1852g-52w and it's great. I love it and it makes me happy. However, I can't seem to figure out what connectors go to what pins. I managed to get the power button one out of pure luck, but now I'm faced without having my front port usbs, the hdd light or the sound ports. I know that where the pins go is different for every pc but emachines doesn't tell me anything about the pins and which ones are which. I cant get my serialnumber/snid from the case it came from as it has been lost since I had gotten a second case. So Emachines support is out of the question. Am I going to have to fumble around inside of it until it works correctly?

first screen only
I have an E machine 4010. It has been running fine. I pushed the start button and it popped and tripped my house circuit breaker. The power supply is shorted so I replaced it. The CPU was damaged and I replaced it with one I had that I know works. It starts up but only the first screen appears with "intel" and the "F2, F10" options. It goes no further and I cannot make the "F" functions respond. Does this mean the mobo is bad? There is a green light on the mobo.

Im thinking its the Motherboard but i hope im wrong. so i wanna see if anyone had this problem and can help me
THANKS in advance, sorry if i sound like a noob i dont really no how to deal with hardware

APU question
Alright. So just for fun I want to build an HTPC and record TV shows with it. I want to go really small with size. So I'd like to go with this motherboard which only has PCIEx16. I know that if you put in a graphics card the graphics part of the APU stops working and video works of off the descret card. What I want to know is, can I install a PCEx1 TV Tunner Card and keep the graphics part of the APU working? I've looked around and can't seem to find an answer. Hopefully I can do this, it'd be fun to. Thanks in advance for any help. :)

1 long and 2 short beeps on POST
The problem: There's no video when I turn on the machine. Everything sounds normal except that there is a long beep and two short beeps when the machine POSTs. There have been NO hardware modifications to the machine for about 8 months.
Manuals I can find online indicate that this is a video error.
What I've tried:
Either the mobo or the PSU are dead. The PSU is <12 months old, and the mobo is ~6 years old, so I think it's more likely the mobo rather than the PSU. However, it's easier to pick up a spare PSU and test it, so I'll do that saturday, but in the meantime, is there anything else I should try before biting the bullet and getting a new mobo/CPU/ram? Nobody makes LGA 775 mobos anymore.
Full specs if anyone's interested:
Manuals I can find online indicate that this is a video error.
What I've tried:
- Removing all USB devices (all devices in fact)
- Clearing the CMOS
- Booting without a videocard
- Booting with a brand new videocard
- Testing each stick of ram individually in each individual slot

Intel Pentium G3220 motherboard socket
Hi.
So my friend asked me if I could suggest him an Intel processor and motherboard because he wants to buy new ones. I came up with the idea that the G3220 will be great for gaming because it is rated 7 of 10 at Game Debate. Anyway, on the site it says that it supports s1150 socket, so will it support an LGA 1150 motherboard?
Here are the links to the components:
Mobo: Anhoch PC Market Online - MB Gigabyte H81M-S2PV LGA1150 DDR3 1600MHz SATA3 USB3.0 Ultra Durable 4 Plus DVI/VGA
CPU: Anhoch PC Market Online - CPU Pentium G3220 Dual Core 3.0GHz s1150 3MB BOX
Thank you in advance
Martin

Can't connect both mouse and keyboard in USB ports in back of pc
It's a pretty specific problem.
For some time I've had issues with windows forgetting or losing connection to both the mouse and keyboard about a minute after windows started up. It would usually work after restarting, but would show up again about once in every 10 startups.
Tried to fix it by uninstalling all USB components through the device manager, but now this (other?) issue hits me instead.
Whenever my mouse and keyboard are both connected in the back of the PC, they screw up each others functionality. I can have the mouse plugged in and working, but when I plug in the keyboard, they both start flashing their lights, and stop working, and vice versa with the keyboard plugged in and then connect the mouse.
Neither of them seem to mind the USB headset, which is also plugged into the back of the PC. Also it doesn't matter if I use the USB 3 sockets or the regular USB 2 ones - I've tried all possible options: Headset disconnected, mouse and keyboard still hate each other. 1 in USB 3 and the other in USB 2. Both in USB 3, and so on and so fourth.
I have a temporary workaround in using the USB port in front of the machine for either mouse or keyboard and the other still plugged into the back. That's the only way I can get them to play nicely with each other.
However, I prefer not to use the front, cus I'm afraid I will damage the port and/or cable, if I hit it with my knee or something.
I've attached a DxDiag file for spec and system information.
Hope you can help and thanks so much in advance :)

Ameritrends is trying to install new hardware
Recently, randomly, when I reboot my system, I get a screen that says Ameritrends is trying to install new hardware on my system... it says I have a new CPU and need to configure it. I usually turn off the computer and try again... which gets me past that point.
Now... after doing a search, I realize this may not be critical, but I need to know what to do. I have an Asus motherboard with 3 cores, all activated. If I understand what I'm reading on this site, downloading the drivers may fix the problem. So I tried that, but stopped when my Threatfire program said it was a high risk. should I just proceed anyway? Will this fix the problem?
Also, my computer has been horribly slow since this started popping up - again, a driver problem? One of my sons built my computer about three years ago. I use MS Office a lot, only one gaming site...GSN.. Help?! Thanks!

Server won't boot
I have a server running on a supermicro X9DRL-iF motherboard, with 2 intel xeon E5-2620v2 processors. I recently decided to change the chassis because it was absolutely atrocious, and then I figured I'd get a nicer, newer PSU as the old one was a pile of trash. Well, now it doesn't boot properly. It loads up a screen saying System Initializing... 15 then it goes black for a split second and refreshes showing System Initializing... 19 and then quickly refreshes to say System Initializing... 2F and then just hangs on that indefinitely. I've tried resetting CMOS, and that didn't work (assuming I did it properly) Any ideas? =/
