Upgrading CPU, can't choose best one

Hi guys, My name is Joe, and I signed up on these forums to get support when I need it, especially at points like these, when I'm about to upgrade my PC. In case you don't know, my current specifications are:

CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 240 2.8GHz
GPU: nVidia GeForce GT 630 1GB DDR3
RAM: 4GB DDR2 800 MHz
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA785GN-US2H

I was planning on upgrading my processor, so I could play more CPU intensive games (Such as Planetside 2) at low or medium settings. My GPU isn't much of a concern to me, because I'm not looking to run 60 FPS on all max settings, you know. I want to run 30-40 FPS on low settings minimum. I was planning on upgrading to a Phenom II X6 1100T BE (So I could buy an aftermarket cooler and OC it). My current mobo has an AM3 socket, and I don't have the money to buy both a new mobo and an intel i5 or i7 (Which would be preferable )

My question is, would the Phenom II X6 1100T BE be too overkill? I don't want something that would be bottlenecked by my other hardware. In the long run, I do plan on upgrading to DDR3 memory and such, but the CPU is what I feel is my top priority to upgrade at the moment. Would the Phenom II Quad cores do the trick? I want something easily overclocked (AMD is decently easy to OC, especially the Black Editions).

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks
